Welcome to Early Light Academy Physical Education

Welcome to the Early Light Academy Physical Education website. At Early Light Academy we encourage and promote healthy lifestyles 365 days a year. ELA PE is proud to offer 7th and 8th physical education as well as an 8th grade team sports elective. New for this year is Fitness for Life, which is a 9th grade only class focusing on individualized lifelong fitness.

Working with the Core Curriculum developed by the Utah State Board of Education. Early Light Academy PE has crea
ted a unique blend of curriculum combined with current theories of kinesiology, exercise physiology and social interaction. These 3 elements are laced within a friendly, encouraging, challenging and successful environment that Early Light Academy is known for. Our Mission statement is as follows:

Early Light Academy Physical Education emphasizes success and growth through individual challenges, interaction, cooperative accomplishments and problem solving while maintaining an undertone of life long fitness in a non-threatening environment.

The grading procedures can be found following the links on the right hand side of the screen or by going to each individual grade page. Homework, class assignments and projects will also be posted on each grade page to aid students during the year.

There is a dress code required for Physical Education class. Each student is required to wear a grey t-shirt (school appropriate logo is accepted), dark blue shorts and gym appropriate sneakers (any sole color is allowed). These rules also apply for cold weather clothing.

Another requirement for 7th,8th and 9th grade Physical Education is the "Fitness Test Journal" (7th) and "Health Journal" (8th/9th). The journals cosmetically are the same however each will be used differently for class. The Health Journal (8th/9th) will be brought to each class while the Fitness Test Journal (7th) will be brought each day but will not be as intensive. The recommended journal is the Mead Black Marble Journal. However, any blank journal will meet the requirement.

I am excited about the upcoming year and look forward to teaching the students of Early Light about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me at mlansing@earlylightacademy.org
